The Photography for Beginners Course is the ideal way to learn how to properly use your digital camera, and is a fun and enjoyable way to learn from a practicing industry professional.

Course Outline

Beginners Photography Course

Day One:

Location : Conducted in the studio at Picture House

Learn how to use your camera.
We will look at the history of photography over the past two centuries.  Understand types of cameras from the earliest models through to the latest digital cameras plus the latest in accessories available.
Share your area of interest and bring your favourite photograph.

Day Two:

Conducted in the studio at Picture House.
Learn what is aperture, shutter speed, depth of field – how to blur background or make it sharp.

Understanding Composition

  • How to compose a photograph
  • How to place a person/s within the photograph
  • How to compose that person/s within the photograph

Discuss light sources and some rules of natural light portraiture.

How to set your camera on ISO rating and lots more.

Practical use and understanding your camera with plenty of question time.

Beginners Digital Photography Course Sunshine Coast

Day Three:

Meeting at the Picture House, we review what we have done so far, then we will enjoy a walking tour of the environs of Buderim/Mountain Creek area with its beautiful natural bushland and river views, identifying locations of landscape and portraiture opportunities.
During this session there will be photographic opportunities of the area’s flora and fauna. You will receive professional feedback and advice.
*don’t forget to bring your model for portraiture next week.

Day Four:

Meet with your models at the Picture House and proceed to our portrait location decided upon at last week’s session.  During this time we photograph individual and groups, close up and full length creating different effects using your new knowledge of shutter speeds, aperture and depth of field and lighting techniques.  

Day Five:

Meet at the beach (location advised).  We critique last week’s photographs.

We will then enjoy a walking tour identifying & photographing seascapes, wildlife and portraiture on the beach.

Day Six:

Meet at the Buderim Rainforest park.  We critique last week’s photographs of the beach.  Enjoy a walk to the waterfall photographing flora and fauna. We continue on to the waterfall for photographic opportunities. 

We meet in the picnic ground to re-assess the photograph brought to the first lesson.
Enjoy a picnic lunch & presentation of Certificate of Attendance.

Requirements:

  • SLR digital camera
  • Your favourtie photograph
  • Model for day three (if required)
  • Tripod is beneficial but not essential

Session Times:

8:30am – 10:30am for six Saturday mornings
Class size is limited to 12 to ensure individual attention. Book early to avoid disappointment.

 

Morning tea provided on days in studio.
